The Cabin in the Wild

"But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer." - Luke 5:16 (NLT)

The seeds of our Jubilee dream began being watered with the building of this cabin in Jefferson, Colorado.

We pictured it to be a place where anyone could withdraw from the busyness of life and focus on meeting with Jesus. Through experiencing the beauty of creation in the “desolate places” (the ESV translation for “wilderness”) and the simplicity of life with fewer distractions, we believe we are better able to quiet our spirits and encounter the Lord.

This special place would also allow families and close friends to gather and spend quality time with each other – another important element of our lives and faith.

When completed, the cabin will be a 4 bedroom / 2.5 bath home, about 2,300 sq. ft. in size. It sits nestled in the trees on a 3.5 acre lot that is a mix of woods, meadow and aspen grove. There are views from the meadow which look down a valley toward Pike’s Peak can be spotted in the distance by the discerning eye.

Things with our cabin have been moving s l o w l y. There's nothing quite like the frustration and stress when schedules don't pan out the way you planned - not just once, but over and over and over again. Due to a combination of COVID, a sudden surge in people wanting to move to the mountains but not having enough skilled tradesmen, and some other things (that I won't discuss here), our cabin is still not ready to get an approval for occupancy.
